“Run, run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread man!”
The Gingerbread Man Fairy Tale
This recipe is a family favourite at Christmas time. The perfume of aromatic spices infuse the house, bringing the excitement of Christmas to life…
Pin for later…
Ingredients
250g butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup golden syrup
1 egg
4½ cups plain flour
1 tsp bicarbonate soda
2 tsp ground ginger
½ tsp ground cloves
½ tsp ground nutmeg
½ tsp ground cinnamon
Method
Preheat oven to 180˚C.
Beat butter and sugar together in a mixer till light and creamy. Add egg and golden syrup and beat together. Sift in all remaining dry ingredients, and stir to combine to bring dough together.
Place the dough in cling wrap in the fridge for an hour.
Roll out the dough on floured surface to a 4mm thick and cut shapes with biscuit cutters. Place on a tray lined with baking paper and bake for 10-12 minutes. Enjoy 😊
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays…
They look so festive.

I love baking cookies at Christmas time. I usually make Chocolate Crinkles, which is always a hit. I’ve tried doing rolled out dough cookies but for some reason I can never get it right! Gotta keep practicing I guess! 🙂

I haven’t had gingerbread biscuits since my grandmother passed. My mouth is water, and I think it’s about time I make these gems. Thanks for the recipe – and the reminder. 🙂

These look yummy. I love gingerbread cookies at Christmas time and used to make them all the time since I was a child. Now in Japan, I don’t have all the tools to make gingerbread men, so I make regular round soft ginger cookies. They do job just as well 😉
