Coromandel is one of New Zealander’s favourite holiday destinations, and it’s easy to see why. The Coromandel Peninsula offers dazzling coastlines, spectacular scenery and a definite sense of being one with nature. The surrounding natural environment of lush rainforests and coastal hideaways are breathtaking. The Grand Mercure Puka Park Resort, centrally positioned above Pauanui Beach, among idyllic bush surroundings, provides the perfect base for exploring this adventurous region of New Zealand’s North Island.
The Grand Mercure radiates pronounced luxury and indisputable seclusion within 25 acres of New Zealand native bush. This boutique retreat ideal for couples or romantic getaways is also suitable for families wanting a tranquil escape and offers a generous sized outdoor heated pool, tennis courts, bike hire and plenty of local activities to keep the kids entertained.
Within the mountainside bush landscape setting, The Grand Mercure Puka Park Resort, instantly presents relaxation and tranquillity. The 48 elegant chalet style accommodation are privately nestled within the treetops of the resort. All with individual balconies where you can peacefully sit and enjoy the native flora and fauna and listen to echoing local birdsong. For those who may have mobility issues, a drop off/pick up buggy is available to easily transport you around the resort.
The main lodge-style residence, houses the reception area as well as the award winning Miha Restaurant. Al fresco dining on the outdoor deck with coastal vistas or indoor dining in the grand chalet restaurant with a cosy open fire, are available options at Miha. It’s lovely to relax on the leather lounges in the bar area with a cocktail, before your meal. Stylish, yet homely surroundings complement the sophisticated, innovative menu. Pacific flavours with a modern European twist are incorporated into these appetizing dishes, though our wait was a little longer than anticipated. Fresh produce is locally sourced and expertly prepared to tantalize your tastebuds, and a considerable wine list is available as well.
The Grand Mercure Puka Park Resort is within easy reach of the stunning coastline and golden sanded beaches of the Coromandel. This serene sanctuary adjoins many hiking/bike trails enabling appreciation for the local New Zealand native forests of the Coromandel Ranges and the beauty of this rugged region. Exceptional facilities, and extremely helpful staff favour this getaway. Luxury, style and comfort are all features found in this paradise. It’s definitely one of New Zealand’s North Island’s little slices of heaven!

We’ve recently been there and we loved it too! Our experience was a winter one, but the weather was kind and mild. Coromandel is known for its sunny, warm climate (but when it rains, it rains)!

Looks so good. We didn’t make it up to the Coromandel on either trip so may have to return for a third time …

We only had one night there unfortunately, so we too would love to head back there to see more of the peninsula.
